Radar Gantry Manufacture & Install

For this project we supported a new flood defence scheme in Birmingham by manufacturing and installing a radar gantry for continuous water level monitoring. Built to the client’s design specifications, the gantry forms a critical part of the site’s early-warning system.

The project presented several design and engineering challenges, which our team overcame through careful planning, quick and effective installation, and close coordination with our client and our manufacturing department.

For this project, we:

• Manufactured the radar gantry in-house
• Installed the gantry on-site in a single day using crane assistance
• Worked alongside the client’s civil team, who conducted an on-site safety audit
• Collaborated with Environmental Ecologists and the Environment Agency to ensure full compliance with environmental standards

One of the key challenges was completing the on-site installation within a narrow timeframe and in an environmentally sensitive area. With careful planning, and the support of experienced lifting partners and ecological consultants, we ensured the gantry was installed safely and efficiently, without disruption to the surrounding environment.
